<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a recording and reproducing device that can prevent data stored in a hard disk from being illegally utilized. SOLUTION: In a recording and reproducing method of this invention a device ID written in the hard disk drive HDD, is acquired at step a hash value on the basis of the device ID of the HDD and a device ID of an audio server is calculated at step S512, the hash value written in the HDD at its shipment is read at step S513, and at step S514, whether or not the hash value calculated in the step S512 is coincident with the hash value read in the step S513 is discriminated. When the discrimination indicates coincidence, the procedure advances to a step S515 and it is recognized that the HDD is an available recording medium. On the other hand, the procedure advances to a step S516, when the discrimination indicates non-coincidence in the step S514, and it is recognized that the HDD is a recording medium whose use is inhibited.</p> |
