PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize desired color reproducibility. SOLUTION: An attribute discrimination section 3 discriminates the attribute of each pixel on the basis of multi-valued image data received by an input section 1. A quantization processing section 2 converts the multi-valued image data, received by the input section 1, into a dot pattern. A replacement section 4 replaces the dot pattern outputted from the quantization processing section 2 into other dot patterns, on the basis of the result of attribute discrimination.
