PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader, in which an original sheet is stably conveyed from an original feeding part to an image reading part. SOLUTION: When an ADF is closed, the top end of a guide flapper 28 is abutted to an FB1. Then, by turning this guide flapper 28 with a shaft 29 as the center, in the state of abutting the top end thereof to the FB, the guide flapper is turned to a regular position so that a paper carrier path can be formed. At such a time, since the top end of the guide flapper 28 is abutted to the B, a step between the ADF and the FB is smoothly levelled.
