PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can increase safety by securely cutting off power supply to a fixing unit in case of abnormality of the fixing unit, and its abnormality processing method. SOLUTION: A relay abnormality detecting circuit 130 detects an input cutoff relay 121 being abnormal on the basis of a relay control signal Relay-ON from a total control circuit 110 performing sequence control over the image forming apparatus and a signal from an input voltage detecting circuit 128. The abnormality detection of this relay is performed at each actuation time and when no image forming process is carried out for a certain time and if the abnormality is detected, a semiconductor switching element 122 is stopped from being driven. |
