PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically select the cover image of an electronic album out of a large quantity of images in the album. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a recording means 12 for recording a plurality of fetched image data in a first directory prepared for each theme, an album preparing means 16 for grouping a plurality of image data on the basis of required initial data such as number of image data in the first directory, photographing date data of respective image data and resolution, distributing the grouped image data to at least one second directory prepared under the first directory, managing and saving the image data in the second directory as an album, and a cover image selecting means 17 for discriminating photographing frequency and the resolution of image data by arbitrary time concerning a plurality of image data in the second directory and selecting image data to be used for album display on the basis of the discriminated result.
