PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head wherein a high density and a large capacity are achieved by using an oblique deposition magnetic tape for a linear magnetic recording/reproducing device and increasing an SN ratio in both of forward and backward directions, and a magnetic recording/reproducing device incorporating the magnetic head. SOLUTION: This magnetic head for recording information in a magnetic tape by a linear system is constructed in such a manner that saturation magnetic flux density of one metal soft magnetic layer is different from that of a core gap part, for example the case of a movement of a magnetic head to the inclining side of the easy magnetization direction 3 of a magnetic layer 2 with respect to the surface of a nonmagnetic support 1 is set as a forward direction, and in the core gap part 12 of a lead-out side when the magnetic head is moved in the forward direction, a metal soft magnetic layer having a saturation magnetic flux density higher than that of the core gap layer 11 of an introduction side when the magnetic head is moved in the forward direction is formed.
