PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preferentially controlling contents transfer to realize a plurality of types of contents transfer service in the same ATM path and to provide an ATM node as well as a program of the method and a medium for recording the program. SOLUTION: The method for preferentially controlling the contents transfer in an ATM network comprises an SVC signal processing function 11, an accommodated band confirming function 13 for determining whether setting of a required channel is possible or not, a preferentially controlling function 12 for preferentially controlling based on a determination of an accommodated band confirming circuit, and a channel setting function 1 of setting the channel. If an empty band of the ATM path to be set is insufficient when the setting of a PVC channel is requested by the accommodated band confirming function, when it can be confirmed that the requested PCV channel can be set by allocating the band of the already set SVC channel to the PVC channel, the preferential control of the contents transfer in the ATM network for preferentially controlling the PVC channel is executed by the preferentially controlling function.
