PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for tilting the tilt of an optical disk device which are hardly influenced by a flaw or foreign matter on an optical disk surface as an adjusting device which reads the recording surface of an optical disk and makes tilt adjustment according to its reproduced signal. SOLUTION: If the optical disk has the flaw or foreign matter, the reproduced signal deteriorates, so for the tilt adjustment, the state of the reproduced signal outputted by a jig circuit is compared with a certain standard value to judge (S2) whether the reproduced signal has abnormality; when the reproduced signal is below the standard value (N at S2), abnormality detection processing is ended (S4) and the original tilt adjusting operation is performed, but when the reproduced signal exceeds the standard value (Y at S2), on the other hand, it is judged that the optical disk is abnormal and abnormality recovery processing is performed (S3) to prevent the tilt adjusting operation from being completed in the presence of the abnormality of the optical disk.
