The sleep prevention system provides an intermittent acoustic alert signal with an intensity which simultaneously provides a stimulating psychological effect for the vehicle driver, when travelling in a straight line at a speed of above 30 km/h for an interval of 5 minutes, with monitoring of the handgrip contact with the steering wheel via pressure switches (5) on the underside of the steering wheel, operated by the driver for interruption of current loops.
