Reinforced wood bat

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforced wood bat having appearance and characteristics similar to those of existing wood bats; resisting breaking and damage due to batting; and being manufacturable at a low cost by a simple method. SOLUTION: One or more continuous layers made of sleeves formed in a net shape from high-strength fibers by use of a mounting tube are affixed to approximately the overall outer surface of a wood core made slightly smaller than a normal wood bat, so as to form a preformed bat assembly 32. A thermally compressible plastic tube is put over the preformed bat assembly 32 and thermally compressed to form a mold 72, into which a setting resin 86 is injected and set to form a reinforced wood bat.
