The curling tongs (1) comprise a heating device (17), which is arranged in a tubular heating rod (25) and extends in the longitudinal direction of the heating rod (25). The curling tongs (1) further comprise a fuel container, for receiving and discharging liquid fuel, and a valve device (5), which serves for gasifying and regulating the fuel. The heating device (17) is controlled in dependence on temperature by a thermostat (6) adjacent to it. According to the invention, the thermostat is shielded thermally from the heating device (17) by a partition wall (49). As a result, the temperature behavior of the heating rod is better regulated, with excessively high temperature peaks being avoided.
