The sewage pipe has drainage pipes (2) opening into it, and rodent-proof grating (3) over the pipe openings. The grating is glued to the inner wall of the sewage pipe (1) by an inflateable packer (5). The grating is covered by a liner of resin-impregnated needle felt mat (4), which has an aperture to leave the pipe openings free. For manufacture, the adhesive-coated grating is placed on the liner and moved by a deflated packet within the sewage pipe tow the drainage pipe opening. The packer is inflated, deflated after the grating is in contact with the wall, and extracted.
