<p>The method involves casting the wheel as a central section with radial hollow spokes (2,3). A rim section (5) is cast separately or as an extension to the central section. The wheel rim (4) is rolled into shape to complete the wheel by moulding into the outline of the central section. Alternately the wheel rim is made from a completely separate casting which is rolled into shape and attached to the central section by weld rings. For the latter design the outer part of the central casting has an outer ring profile shaped to match the wheel rim weld flanges.</p> |
