PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear shift device in a further compact structure with at least two shift gates in array. SOLUTION: The gear shift device has two shift gates in array. An interval between the shift gates is selected such that the outer peripheries of sliding sleeves 1, 2 projected in the vertical direction of the shift gates cross each other or overlap each other. For that purpose, a recessed portion 6 is provided in the outer periphery range of one sliding sleeve 2 and at least a portion 9 of the peripheral range of the other sliding sleeve 1 is engageable with the recessed portion. It is acceptable that the recessed portion is, for example, a depressed area extending to the peripheral direction. It is acceptable that the portion of the other sliding sleeve engaging with the recessed portion is a ring uprising portion in a complementary form. The width of the groove recessed portion is greater than that of the ring uprising portion, and so both sliding sleeves are relatively slidable in the axial direction. |
