PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device and a control method therefor that can grade an initial injection rate while maintaining stability of injection. SOLUTION: The fuel injection device has a structure where a injector 10 has a passage 44 communicating a pressure chamber 11 with a low pressure side so that at an injection of fuel, part of working fluid in the pressure chamber 11 flows out to the low pressure side through the passage 44 to grade increase in the injection rate of initial injection, and the passage 44 has a changeover means 43 for restricting the passage 44 or changing it from an open to a closed state with injection stroke motion of a booster piston 12. At an injection of fuel, the control method causes part of working fluid in the pressure chamber 11 to flow out to the low pressure side to grade increase in the injection rate of initial injection, and restricts or bocks the outflow of working fluid from the pressure chamber to the low pressure side with injection stroke motion of the booster piston 12. |
