PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a plating layer against peeling and to improve the stability of injection performance against long-term use when plating is applied to an outer surface of a fuel injection nozzle tip portion where a tip of a cylinder is closed by a convex wall and a nozzle hole is formed through part of the convex wall. SOLUTION: The nozzle tip portion is immersed in a plating bath, and the plating bath is circulated between the inside and outside of the nozzle tip portion through the nozzle hole to form the plating layer at least throughout the outer surface of the nozzle tip portion and an inner circumference of the nozzle hole, so that the plating layer starts from inside the nozzle hole to preclude peeling and that the plating layer stably coats the nozzle hole throughout the inner circumference. The plating layer may include an oil-repellent substance.
