PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing utensil, in which a thread clamping force at the screwing between a barrel and a plug can be made smaller than ever and a user in general can be surely assemble the barrel and the plug. SOLUTION: The writing utensil 1 is equipped with the synthetic resin barrel 2 and the synthetic resin plug 3. Screwing parts 5, which can screw together with each other, are provided on the inner surface of the opening part of the barrel 2 and on the outer surface of the plug 3. At a plurality of spots axially apart from the screwing parts, fitting parts 6 and 7, each can hermetically fit to each other, are provided. The barrel 2 and the plug 3 are attached together detachably. In addition, the axially moving lengths ranging from the starting of their fittings to the completion of them of the fitting part 6 and of the fitting part 7 are made to be different from each other. Thus, at the screwing process of the screwing parts 5, no fittings of the fitting parts 6 and 7 locating at a plurality of spots starts their fitting simultaneously.
