<p>An image received by the camera is stored in a memory (24) and analysed (25) to obtain for each picture element of the image a score indicating the degree of dissimilarity of the element and its environment from the remainder of the image. Thee scores are further analysed (27) to identify a region of the image having the greatest such dissimilarity, and the coordinates at this point are used to direct a focus control mechanism (22) to focus the camera on that part of the image, and/or to direct an exposure control device (24) to adjust the exposure of a camera to suit the identified part of image. <IMAGE></p> |
