Surgical suture material and its use in surgery

A resorbable synthetic polymer surgical suture material comprises a glycolide-trimethylene carbonate (TMC) copolymer with a statistical monomer distribution and a glycolide content 76 wt.%. Also claimed are (i) the use of the suture material monofilament for sealing wounds with accelerated resorption, and (ii) the prepn. of the material by simultaneous reaction of the glycolide and TMC monomers for forming a statistical copolymer.
