PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an unnecessary movement of an inserting section at the time of a rising operation or the like of a treating utensil, in an endoscope wherein the inserting section has flexibility. SOLUTION: This endoscope has flexibility at least at a certain region of the inserting section. In such an endoscope, a specific gravity-adjusting body is made to enter/come out from the flexibility-imparted region of the inserting section. Thus, the specific gravity of the flexibility-imparted region is changed. The endoscope is equipped with such a specific gravity-adjusting means.
