PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new measuring method for chemical oxygen demand(COD) of high accuracy and high sensitivity even under the presence of chloride ion, suppressing the applied quantity of a reagent, and provide the reagent and a kit used for the method. SOLUTION: In this COD measuring method for a sample, and the COD measuring reagent and the kit used for the method, the sample is brought into contact with dichromate under the coexistence of mercury (II) ion, chromium (III) ion and a catalyst quantity of silver ion, and the COD value of the sample is measured on the basis of the consumption of the dichromate.
