PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an α-alumina molding in which the distribution of fine pores can easily and inexpensively be controlled, and which is usable as a catalyst carrier having high strength, and has a low soda content, to provide a production method therefor, and to provide a carrier. SOLUTION: Alumina powder obtained by calcining aluminum hydroxide of gibbsite crystals in which particle diameter and heavy bulk density are controlled, and at least partially having rehydration properties is mixed with water. This mixture is molded to obtain a molding. This molding is held in a humid atmosphere heated at 110 to 200 deg.C or in water vapor, and is rehydrated. Next, the rehydrated molding is burned at >=1,200 deg.C. |
