摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently synthesizing an organometallic compound of a transition metal having an indenyl ligand of which the 2-position is subjected to cross-linking, and to provide a catalyst suitable for producing a high-molecular weight EP(D)M [ethylene-propylene-(diene)-methylene (rubber)]. SOLUTION: This method for producing the organometallic compound comprises halogenating an indene intermediate of which the 1- and 3-positions are substituted, reacting the halogenated product with a cross-linking group and a second ligand at the same time in the presence of a group I or II metal in the periodic table so as to synthesize an indenyl ligand in which the 1- and 3-positions are substituted and the 2-position is subjected to the cross-linking, then reacting the synthesized ligand with the group I or II metal in the periodic table, and further with a halogenated compound of a group IV to VI transition metal, so that the organometallic compound of the transition metal having the indenyl ligand of which the 2-position is subjected to the cross-linking. A high-molecular weight atactic polymer and the high-molecular weight EPDM are produced by using the organometallic compound as a polymerization catalyst forα-olefins, respectively.
