PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a web cutting method for a rotary press for preventing the wrinkling of a web at its winding starting portion, such as a thin film or paper being severalμm in thickness, and improving the yield thereof, and the rotary press. SOLUTION: A moving device 52 is provided for moving side plates 10 with respect to a cone 11. The web 3 is cut in the state of the side plates 10 being positioned at the outside of a cutter 15 and the side plates are positioned at a space somewhat greater than the width of the web, after cut.
