METHOXY GROUP-CONTAINING SILANE-MODIFIED NOVOLAK EPOXY RESIN AND SEMICURED MATERIAL AND CURED MATERIAL OBTAINED FROM THE SAME RESIN COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silane-modified epoxy resin composition capable of providing a hybrid cured product excellent in heat resistance and low coefficient of thermal expansion and not causing voids and crack and readily carrying out molding and processing in a semicured state and a semicured product and a cured product obtained from the resin composition. SOLUTION: This methoxy group-containing silane-modified epoxy resin (A) is obtained by carrying out demethanolation-through condensation reaction of (1) a hydroxy group-containing epoxy resin obtained by ring-opening modification of a part of epoxy group of a novolak epoxy resin with (2) a partial condensation product of methoxysilane. This methoxy group-containing silane-modified novolak epoxy resin is obtained by carrying out demethanolation-through condensation reaction of (1) the hydroxy group-containing epoxy resin obtained by ring-opening modification of a part of epoxy group of the novolak epoxy resin with (2) the partial condensation product of methoxysilane and (3) an epoxy compound having one hydroxy group in one molecule. This semicured material and this cured material are each by using these epoxy resins.
