PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate part having extremely high luminance in an image pickup region of a camera, to allow image pickup in a suitable luminance range, and therefore, to sufficiently exhibit original inspection performance of a paper cup inspection device. SOLUTION: This inspection device of the inner surface of a paper cup has an imaging optical system. The imaging optical system has an imaging means, a light shielding means, and a lighting means. The imaging means picks up an image of the inner surface of the paper cup from the looking direction of the opening (drinking tap) of the paper cup and outputs an image pickup signal. The light shielding means has an opening having a shape that does not disturb the image pickup view by the imaging means and a light shielding part outside the image pickup view and is disposed between the paper cup and the imaging means. The lighting means has the lighting axis shifted from the image pickup axis of the imaging means, and indirectly lights the bottom surface of the paper cup with light means passing through the opening of the light shielding means.
