SOLUTION: In a pulley thrust control device, the belt is wound around a drive pulley and a driven pulley, and the thrust of the drive pulley for clasping the belt or the thrust of the driven pulley for clasping the belt can be controlled. The pulley thrust control device comprises a motion state determining means (Steps S7-S11), a thrust reducing means (Step S13), and a thrust ratio determining means (Step S14). The motion state determining means determines the situation in which the torque or the transmission gear ratio acting on the belt- type non-stage transmission hardly varies. The thrust reducing means reduces the thrust when the motion state determining means determine the situation in which the torque or the transmission gear ratio hardly varies. The thrust ratio determining means determines the value of the ratio of the thrust of the drive pulley to that of the driven pulley by reducing the thrust.
