A receptacle for cultivating a tree, characterized in that it comprises a porous material satisfying the following requirements A and/or B: requirement A: 30 or less in terms of the standard deviation and 15 or less in terms of a coefficient of variation, with respect to air permeability values (mL/cm<sp>2</sp>/s) as measured at arbitrary ten points, and requirement B: 5 or less in terms of the standard deviation and 15 or less in terms of a coefficient of variation, with respect to values of resistance to penetration (N) as measured at arbitrary ten points; and a method for cultivating a tree which uses the receptacle. A method for cultivating a fruit tree which uses the receptacle allows early formation of flower buds, early bearing of fruits and early harvesting.
