The pepper mill has a 2-part housing (1,2), a side operating lever (3), spring-loaded between the upper and lower housing parts, a rotary grinding mechanism (4) and a one-way element (5) having cog teeth (131) cooperating with teeth (33) at the inner end of the operating lever, for rotation of the shaft (41) of the grinding mechanism.
