The flexible press mantle (10) for a shoe press roller, to act on a web to extract water or polish the surface, has a plastics layer (30) with a conventional reinforcement (31,32). The mantle has an additional reinforcement (34) at least at one end zone (E), to allow the mantle to be fitted to a carrier e.g. an expanding ring (27) at the shoe press roller, and preferably at the outer mantle surface of the carrier.
