The invention relates to a method for automatically adjusting the filter parameters center frequency, quality and amplification or attenuation of at least one digital equalizer (6, 7) that is part of the replay device (1) for audio signals in a vehicle interior. To this end, the acoustic frequency response of the vehicle interior is determined, and the shortcomings of the acoustics of the vehicle interior are determined in the form of local maxima and minima in the frequency response measured. On the basis thereof, the filter parameters are automatically adjusted in such a way that at least part of these shortcomings is compensated for. The invention further relates to a replay device for audio signals for carrying out the inventive method.
