PURPOSE: An electronic device for managing the data of an operation program and a method for managing the data are provided to manage the data for the program operating the electronic device, and to reduce the probability of the malfunction due to the wrong data by updating the wrong data. CONSTITUTION: A RAM(201) stores the program data to operate the electronic device. An EEPROM(Electronically Erasable Programmable ROM)(203) stores the same data as the data stored in the RAM(201). An error detector(207) detects an error of the data stored in the RAM(201). A memory manager(205) updates and stores the date stored in the EEPROM(203) to the RAM(201) if an error detection signal is received from the error detector(207). An operation processor(211) processes the operation of the electronic device. A program executing part(209) executes the program based on the data stored in the RAM(201) in order to operate the operation processor(211).
