<p>A blade 30 comprises a main aerofoil member 32, a root 33 and a blade tip 34 comprising a ceramic main body 42, which is mounted on the aerofoil member 32 by a corresponding dovetail retaining formation (44, Figs 3 and 4) and a screw fastening means 46 having a shank 54 and a conical head 52. A bore 56 extends through the shank 54 and head 52 of the screw 46 and communicates with a cooling conduit 62. The conical head 52 of the screw 46 is received by a conical aperture 58 to compensate for differential thermal expansion between the tip 34 and the aerofoil member 32. A thermal barrier coating 66 is provided on the head 52 and a metallic compliant load distribution member (64, Figs 3 and 4) is provided between the aerofoil member 32 and the dovetail retaining formation (44, Figs 3 and 4) of the blade tip 34.</p> |
