PURPOSE: A video display system having a paging function and a method for controlling the video display system are provided to process a received message, memorize the processed message and display the memorized message, and to remotely perform reservation recording through radio communications. CONSTITUTION: A video display system includes a video display(7) for displaying an image, a video signal processor(3) for processing a video signal to display a corresponding image on the display, a radio paging signal processor(9) for receiving and decoding radio paging information, and a memory(5) for storing the decoded radio paging information. The video display system further includes a controller(11) for controlling the memory to store the radio paging information and controls the video signal processor to read the stored information and display the read information, a power supply unit(13) for allowing receiving and storing of radio paging information to be performed even in the event of interruption of electric power, and a means for making processing of the received information and display of the store information continue when power failure is recovered.
