PURPOSE: An ATM cell header converter is provided to prevent ATM cell header conversion's reliance from being dropped although an error occurs in the ATM cell header conversion. CONSTITUTION: An utopia master receiver(61) interfaces an utopia level II with a physical layer in order to receive an asynchronous transmission mode cell from the physical layer. A content addressable memory interface device(62) interfaces with a content addressable memory section which performs a header conversion of an ATM cell from the utopia master receiver(61). An error processor(65) provides predetermined information of an ATM cell having a header conversion error from the content addressable memory interface device(62) to a high position. The error processor(65) counts and provides a parity error and a Start Of Cell(SOC) generated in the utopia master receiver(61) to the high position.
