PURPOSE: A driving method of an AC plasma display panel is provided, which obtains high contrast and brightness and reduce pseudo contours by using only a positive power supply voltage. CONSTITUTION: All data electrodes are maintained at 0V in a reset period. Voltages on scan electrodes are sharply increased to a discharge start voltage(Vf). After a discharge arises, the voltage on the scan electrodes are maintained at the discharge start voltage(Vf) during a discharge stabilization period at which wall charges of a dielectric layer on sustain and data electrodes are sufficiently accumulated. After this, the voltage on the scan electrodes are slowly decreased from the discharge start voltage to 0V. Voltages to the sustain electrodes are maintained at 0V during a period at which the discharge start voltage is applied to the scan electrodes. During a period at which the voltages of the scan electrodes are slowly decreased from the discharge start voltage to 0V, voltages to the sustain electrodes are slowly increased from 0V to a sustain voltage(Vs). After a scan voltage is dropped to 0V, the scan voltage is maintained during ten microseconds. In a scan period, a voltage(Vy-level) is applied to all scan electrodes. After this, a write voltage(Vd) is applied to an appointed data electrode, a scan voltage is dropped to 0V so that write discharge arises. In a sustain period, 0V is applied to all electrodes, and then a sustain voltage(Vs) is applied to a sustain electrode.
