PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a series regulator which can suppress the overshooting of an output voltage. SOLUTION: The series regulator in which the base current of a transistor Q1 is controlled according to an error signal that an error amplifier 3 generates is equipped with a constant voltage source 14 which outputs a voltage higher than the reference voltage outputted by a constant voltage source 4 connected to the uninverted input terminal of the error amplifier 3, a switching element 13 which switches the input signal to the inverted input terminal of the error amplifier 3, and a comparator 9 which performs ON/OFF control over the switching element 13 according to the charging voltage of a capacitor 7.
