摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving a scan electrode for use in an alternative plasma display panel with reducing the number of driving switches is provided to make the structure of the apparatus simple by removing switches located at a main path flowing a current, thereby supplying the driving apparatus having an advantage in a manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving an alternative plasma display panel with reducing the number of driving switches includes a power recovery block(100) for supplying a power to a panel(Cp) to apply a waveform to generate a sustain discharge and for reusing a recovered power by recovering the power, a reset pulse generating block(200) for supplying a pulse to initialize the states of each cell in such a way that addressing operations are smoothly operated at each of discharging cells based on the power supplied from the power recovery block(100), a switching block(300) for descending the reset voltage rising among the ramp waveform during the reset period generated by the reset pulse generating block(200) to an external applied voltage(Vs), a scan pulse generation block(400) for implementing the operation to accumulate the wall charges on the addressed discharge cells and a scan buffer block(500) for storing the reset signal to initialize the states of each discharge cell and the scan signals to accumulate the wall charge on each of the discharge cells and for outputting the stored signal at a predetermined timing.
