摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device performing superscribing recording with appropriate erasing power and securing an excellent error rate at the time of reading signals without damaging the service life of a rewritable optical disk. SOLUTION: Superscribing test recording is performed in a test recording area and a reference erasure remaining modulation degree is calculated from the detection signals of reflected light in an erasure area erased by the light beam of the erasing power and is held. At the time of recording information, a peak value and a bottom value are obtained from the detection signals of the reflected light in the erasure area, an erasure remaining modulation degree is calculated from the peak value and the bottom value and the erasing power is changed so as to bring the calculated erasure remaining modulation degree closer to the reference erasure remaining modulation degree. Thus, the error rate of the signal read of a superscribing recording part is secured at an excellent value by increasing the erasing power in the case that the erasing power is weak and the service life of the rewritable optical disk is prevented from being damaged by lowering the erasing power in the case that the erasing power is strong.
