PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing the damage of the surface of a member to be heated in advance by removing a foreign matter such as toner or paper powder left between a magnetic flux generating means and the member to be heated without detaching the magnetic flux generating means and the member to be heated. SOLUTION: This fixing device 9 is equipped with a rotating body 10 having an induction heating element for generating heat by the action of magnetic flux, a magnetic flux generating means 14 arranged to be opposed to the outer circumferential surface of the rotating body 10 and generating the magnetic flux for induction heating in the rotating body 10, and a pressure member 11 which can be brought in press-contact with the rotating body 10 each other. By applying heat and pressure to unfixed toner carried on a sheet type medium by using the rotating body 10 and the member 11, the toner penetrates into the sheet type medium in the device 9. The means 14 is equipped with a covering part 15 capable of covering over the means 14 on a side opposed to the rotating body 10, and the part 15 is equipped with a smoothly finished surface opposed to the rotating body 10.
