PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an organic EL display device through simple manufacturing processes. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the organic EL display device includes depositing a back electrode 5 and an organic layer 42 on a base material 6 via a mold releasing layer 7 to form a transfer body B1, then providing an organic layer 41 on a transparent electrode 2 of a display substrate 3 having the transparent electrode 2 provided on a transparent substrate 1, then contacting the organic layer 42 of the transfer body B1 intimately with the top of the organic layer 41 to thermally fuse the organic layers 41 and 42 together, then releasing the base material 6 via the mold releasing layer 7, and transferring and depositing the organic layer 42 and the back electrode 5 of the transfer body B1 onto the transparent electrode 2 of the display substrate 3. An emitter material is contained in either the organic layer 42 of the transfer body B1 or the organic layer 41 on the display substrate 3 and is biased toward either the transparent electrode 2 or the back electrode 5 along the thickness direction of the organic layer 4.
