PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device for detecting and correcting defective pixels highly accurately in wide dynamic range imaging by adding signals having different exposure times. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a dynamic range expansion circuit 104 for adding two types video signals having different exposure times obtained from a solid-state image pickup element 101, a frame cyclic type noise reduction circuit 105 for reducing the number of erroneous detections of the defective pixels, a defective pixel detecting circuit 106, a defective pixel position storing memory 107 for storing the results of detection, and a position conversion circuit 108 for determining correction positions of the two types of video signals having different exposure times on the basis of the results of detection. In this device, the signals outputted from the element 101 are corrected by the circuit 102.
