PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of continuing the drive of a driving means without causing deterioration of a printed image, increase of a noise level, increase of cost, increase of power consumption, rise of an operational temperature, even when the load torque of the image forming apparatus is increased under a low temperature environment, and to provide a control method. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is composed of a paper feeding means 111 for feeding a sheet S one by one by a paper conveying means 115, an image forming means for forming an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor drum 109 in accordance with an inputted image signal, a developing means for developing the electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor drum 109, a transfer means for transferring the developed image formed on the photoreceptor drum 109 to the fed sheet S, a fixing means 122 for fixing the transferred image, the driving means 120 for carrying the sheet S from the paper feeding means 111 to each means and also driving each means, and a control means for controlling the driving means 120 and also the whole device, and the image forming apparatus is provided with a means for switching a driving current of the driving means 120. |
