PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine which accurately disposes permanent magnets at designed positions. SOLUTION: In the rotary electric machine 1, which is constituted of a stator and a rotor 2, having a winding on either of which and a plurality of permanent magnets 3 on the other, rotatably holds the rotor with a rotation gap between the stator and the rotor 2, and disposes the permanent magnets 3 near the rotation gap, the transection of each permanent magnet 3 comprising one pole is formed with a projection in the opposite direction to the rotation gap, and further the projection is formed by a plurality of planes. With such an arrangement, the permanent magnets 3 can be accurately disposed at the designed positions, and local concentration of magnetic flux in the rotor 2 is lessened, the output can be improved.
