PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a disk drive and to simplify its mechanism. SOLUTION: The disk drive is provided with a supporting member 28 rotatable to a mechanical chassis 14 at the opposite side of a disk-shaped recording medium 102 moved to a disk fixing point across the mechanical chassis, and a base member 33 which is supported freely turnably by the supporting member, moved between an approach position approaching the mechanical chassis and a retracting position separated from the mechanical chassis and has a spindle motor 40 and an optical pickup 44 when the recording medium is ejected, the supporting member is turned to one way to the mechanical chassis, and the base member is turned to the supporting member, thereby moves the base member to the retracting position. When the recording medium is inserted, the supporting member is turned to another way to the mechanical chassis, and the base member is turned to the supporting member, thereby moves the base member to the approach position. When the base member is moved to the approach position, the base member is located in parallel to the mechanical chassis, and the recording medium is mounted on a disk table 41.
