PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pole driving apparatus for driving a pole so that the pole can be retracted and extended out, the pole driving apparatus being designed to be thin in the erecting direction of the pole and minimize an effect such as impact or the like when driven. SOLUTION: The pole driving apparatus includes a driving portion for generating driving force, a belt moved in a predetermined direction with the driving force generated by the driving portion, an elasticity holding portion for holding the belt elastically, a carriage which is fixed to the belt and moved interlockingly with the movement of the belt, a carriage guide for guiding the carriage in the predetermined direction, a pole freely-rotatably mounted on the carriage, and a guide portion for guiding the pole.
