<p>An anaerobic digester for treating organic wastes is described. The anaerobic digester includes multiple reaction chambers (16, 18, 20, 22) and a settling compartment (38). The digester can collect methane as through a gas exit port (48). The reactor does not require internal moving parts. The volume of the chambers is adjusted to control the relative residence time. Neither pH nor temperature needed to be controlled.</p>
