PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set for ink jet recording by which high-quality image can be obtained and to provide a method for producing the ink set and a method for recording images by which high-quality image can be obtained and to provide a device for ink jet recording and to provide a high-resolution recorded material. SOLUTION: This ink set for ink jet recording comprises a plurality of ink compositions each containing at least a coloring agent, a water-soluble organic solvent and water. In the ink set, the difference between the maximum value of the viscosity and the minimum value of the viscosity among viscosities at 20 deg.C of the plurality of ink compositions is <=0.5 mPa.s in the range of 10<4> to 10<7> sec<-1> shear rate.
