PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and its controlling method in which the operational content of various commands, e.g. a page punctuation command or a document punctuation command, can be extended easily and setting or alteration of the operational content can be executed quickly. SOLUTION: Upon receiving a document punctuation operation mode setting command from a host HC at step c2, an operation mode number EOT- MODE (=0-7) is set on the operation table of an RAM23. Upon receiving a page punctuation operation mode setting command from the host HC at step c4, an operation mode number FF- MODE (=0-7) is set on the operation table of the RAM23. Upon receiving a page end command <FF> subsequently in the way of print data receiving and printing operation, a page punctuation operation corresponding to the number FF- MODE is performed with reference to the operation table. Upon receiving a document end command <EOT>, a document punctuation operation corresponding to the number EOT- MODE is performed with reference to the operation table. |
