PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which nonprint microvibration can be executed only at a required part, and a method for controlling nonprint microvibration of a printer. SOLUTION: A control section 33 in a printer 1 comprises a section 49 for setting a region of microvibration, a section 50 for judging execution of capping, a section 51 for judging execution of ink sequence, and a flag register 52. The judging section 50 makes a decision whether a recording head is capped or not and sets the flag register 52 with a microvibration prohibition flag F1 if the recording head is capped. The judging section 51 makes a decision whether ink sequence control is executed or not and sets the flag register 52 with a microvibration prohibition flag F2 if that control is executed. The microvibration region setting section 49 prohibits nonprint microvibration when at least one of the flags F1 and F2 is set. |
